After Stage 14 yesterday (Mazamet to Plateau de Beille), Rasmussen kept his lead (2 min 23 sec over Contador). Vinokourov, the favorite, fell yesterday but it did not matter because he was already far behind. A spectator’s flag got caught in the wheels of Ivanov, causing him and Vino to fall on the ascent (read more about yesterday’s stage on Nancy Toby’s excellent blog, Tour de France Lanterne Rouge). There’s even a photo of our current Lanterne Rouge, Wim Vansevenant, on her blog. Assuming he does not fall, speed up or slow down, he is on his way to his second consecutive Lanterne Rouge!
