Thor Hushovd (Credit Agricole) won the second stage of the Tour de France, with Kim Kirchen and Gerald Ciolek coming in second and third, respectively. This was another exciting stage because the race is wide open. A surprising Lanterne Rouge is Barloworld’s Mauricio Soler, last year’s meilleur grimpeur (king of the mountains). Soler suffered a fractured wrist after a fall in yesterday’s stage. Wim Vansevenant, our favorite to win the Lanterne Rouge title three Tours in a row, came in 171st in a field of 179.
